On the morning of August 29, Western Digital held a press conference at Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas, in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

The event was organized to introduce the features of the product ahead of the launch of '64-layer 3D NAND-based client SSD' series of Western Digital, with officials including Shim Young-chul, Director of Western Digital, in attendance.

Shim Young-chul, Director of Western Digital, said, "Being launched this time, '64-layer 3D NAND-based client SSD' features improved performance, durability and capacity while reducing power consumption." And, "We are trying to provide our customers with better performance, so please give much of your interest and support."



According to the announcement, Western Digital will release 'WD Blue 3D NAND SATA SSD' and 'SanDisk Ultra 3D SSD', which correspond to '64-layer 3D NAND-based client SSD'. The new products are consumer SSDs based on Western Digital's 64-layer 3D NAND technology, delivering improved performance, durability and capacity while reducing power consumption.

First, 'WD Blue 3D NAND SATA SSD' provides the industry's highest level of Mean Time To Failure (MTTF) of 1.75 million hours, and through 'WD F.I.T (Functional Integrity Testing)' Lab certification, it ensures reliable high quality. This product is suitable for DIY PC users, resellers, system builders and so on.

'SanDisk Ultra 3D SSD', which is released together, is suitable for gamers and creative professionals expecting PC performance improvement. It offers greater durability and reliability, reduces latency of booting, reduces application loading time, and enables faster data transfers.




Both brands have sequential read and write speeds of up to 560MB/s and 530MB/s, respectively, and capacities can be selected from 250GB, 500GB, 1TB, and 2TB. WD Blue 3D NAND SATA SSDs will be available with two types, 2.5-inch/7-mm case drives and M.2 2280 form factor versions. SanDisk Ultra 3D SSDs will be available in 2.5-inch/7-mm case drives.

Both 'WD Blue 3D NAND SATA SSD' and 'SanDisk Ultra 3D SSD' offer a 3 year limited warranty and MSRPs of WD Blue 3D NAND SATA SSD and SanDisk Ultra 3D SSD start from 123,000 won. 'SanDisk Ultra 3D SSD' is available for purchase through Auction, G-market and 11Street. 'WD Blue 3D NAND SATA SSD' will be released in October.
